Tournament Director/ Committee Chair - Autumn Nesdoly

Years involved in Rope Skipping: 22
Role(s) in the sport: Coach, Judge, RSC/RSA Representative, RSC Competition Committee Member, IJRU Judging Committee Member
What keeps you involved in Rope Skipping: It has always been my favourite sport, and I love seeing others discover their own passion for it. Nowadays, I get to sit back and watch the passion take over the gym. It is difficult to explain exactly what this looks like, but every coach will know what I mean. To be dead honest, I can’t imagine not being involved in skipping. The community would be too hard to leave behind! Some might even say I love the sport a little too much, because it has undoubtedly shaped the research I do in my ‘other life’. Truly, skipping has every element of what makes a sport meaningful: a great community of people, just the right amount of challenge, and a whole lot of fun!

Chaos Coordinator/Announcer/DJ - Jackie Lega

Years involved in Rope Skipping: 14 years
Role(s) in the sport: coach, speed judge, marshall, athlete, RSA Tournament Director
What keeps you involved in Rope Skipping: Everyone that I've met in my last 14 years! Rope Skipping has allowed me to make some life long friends that I will forever be grateful for. I love watching the growth of the sport but  even more, I love how each year the athletes in Canada come up with new and creative power moves and tricks for not only their individual routines but also for their team routines. The biggest reason though keeping me involved is the sense of community Rope Skipping provides and how everyone encourages and supports each other.  I also am trying to convert everyone to be an Oilers Fan, so I will be involved until that happens

Judge & Volunteer Coordinator - Carly Simpson

Years involved in Rope Skipping: 32 years
Role(s) in the sport: Coach, member of the Competition Committee, Chair of ORSO Competition, IJRU Judge Trainer, RSC Secretary
What keeps you involved in Rope Skipping: The excitement of seeing the sport continue to grow and evolve. I’m passionate about helping athletes develop, supporting the progression of the sport at all levels, and contributing to its future through coaching, leadership, judging, and organizational roles both provincially and nationally.

Floor Manager (Technology) - Tim Segato

Years involved in Rope Skipping: 20
Role(s) in the sport: Since getting involved with jump rope in 2006, I’ve volunteered in several roles.  Currently in addition to the NTC, I am also the Technical Director for the ORSO Tournament Committee, ORSO Scoring/Results Lead, and Team Manager for KW Jump Rope.  Previously I have been a member of the ORSO Board as Treasurer and Vice-President, ORSO Webmaster, a judge, and Team Canada Manager for two Worlds competitions.
What keeps you involved in Rope Skipping: Although I have never been an athlete in jump rope, I stay involved because of the opportunities our sport creates for young athletes who do not enjoy participating in traditional mainstream sports.  Jump rope is such an assessable sport and the Individual and Team events create a safe space for young athletes to explore sport in their own way.  Our team has been fortunate to see shy individuals really find their place and become more confident and outgoing, while developing a love for jump rope! I look forward to continuing to bring new innovation to our competitions and ensuring our athletes have a great time while competing.

Role(s) in the Sport:  Current treasurer and board member of RSA, current RSA results coordinator, current NTC results coordinator, athlete for the past 3 years, past president of RSA, past RSC board member as the RSA Provincial Representative
What keeps you involved:  I enjoy being part of this amazing community.   Athletes, coaches, and all the volunteers have a part to play in growing this sport and I want to help facilitate that growth in any way I can.

Committee Member - Deirdre DeGagne

Years involved in Rope Skipping: 39
Role(s) in the sport: Retired head coach, retired JRBC board member and RSC board member. Currently assistant coaching with the Abbotsford Skipping Sensations

What keeps you involved in Rope Skipping: It’s in my blood! Rope skipping is such a unique and rewarding sport. I have loved being able to work with athletes from a very young age into adulthood, and seeing them take leadership roles. Now I enjoy contributing wherever I can.

Floor Manager (Staging) and part time Chaos Creator - Craig van Herk

Years involved in Rope Skipping: 20
Role(s) in the sport: Parent, JRBC Tournament Director and Board Member, RSC President, Tournament Director and Tech Committee, ABSS Rope Doctor and a founding member of the Abbotsford Mansations, IJRU Floor Manager and Technical Congress member.
What keeps you involved in Rope Skipping: Without a doubt it’s the people! The athletes, judges, volunteers, and parents combine to create a unique and very special world wide community.  Being involved with people who can compete, coach and lead at a high level and still support one another makes it rewarding and easy to remain involved…I’ve tried to leave but just can’t…and not because I have yet to be converted to the Oilers bandwagon but because beyond the competition itself, it’s the friendships, teamwork, and shared experiences that make it so special…

What keeps you involved:  Seeing kids discovering and developing their confidence, resilience, and building a sense of belonging with their team mates.
